Metrology Upgrading Programme - Microwave Metrology in Power, Attenuation and Phase Noise


Course Outline

This course aims to provide participants with the technical knowledge and skills in microwave measurement fundamentals, and power, power sensor, attenuation and phase noise measurements. Microwave attenuation and phase noise measurement technique will be introduced, for the first time, in this MUP course. The laboratory calibration session will cover microwave power sensor calibration and measurement using our voltage-ratio based attenuation measurement system and phase noise measurement system. Uncertainty analyses for these measurements will be introduced. The theoretical and practical calibrations of power, power sensor, attenuation and phase noise will provide course participants with a good understanding in microwave calibration, traceability and uncertainty evaluations.
