Seminar on Gas Standards to Support Ambient Air Monitoring

National Metrology Centre (NMC), A*STAR, is organising a seminar on Gas Standards to Support Ambient Air Monitoring on 3 May 2013. Our guest speaker, Mr James Norris, will be sharing on the different levels of gas standards to support ambient air monitoring. Participants will learn about essential good practices to achieve accurate & reliable gas measurements for effective monitoring, control and mitigation measures for air quality. Laboratories, industry, suppliers of gases, detectors and analyzers, and regulatory bodies involving in air quality monitoring and pollution control would benefit from the sharing.

09.30am - 09.45am

09.45am - 10.00am

James Norris, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA

About the guest speaker

Mr James Norris works in the Gas Metrology Group of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), US. He is responsible for the measurements of ozone concentration of up to 1000 nmol/mol using an ultraviolet photometric technique, and the operation and production of NIST Standard Reference Photometer which serves globally as the ozone reference standard. He is also involved in the development and advancement of automated calibration systems for commercial and custom-made ozone instrumentation.

Who should attend

Scientists, engineers, managers and planners in the environment sector such as indoor and outdoor air quality, production, analysis, testing, and calibration of gas certified reference materials and gas mixtures.
