Metrology Upgrading Programme - Time and Frequency Measurements for the Industry

Course Outline

Modern electronic systems and instruments rely heavily on precise timing or frequency reference for their operation. Various standards like quartz oscillators, GPS disciplined oscillators, and atomic clocks used as timing sources in these devices have to be characterized according to internationally accepted practices, with traceability to national standards. This course offers the participants with essential knowledge on clocks, oscillators, atomic frequency standards, making precise frequency and time measurements and establishing measurement accuracy and traceability. Measurement uncertainty calculation will be touched as well. A practical approach will be adopted to enhance learning the measurement principles and techniques of the subject.
