Metrology Upgrading Programme - Electrical Measurements using Digital Multimeters

Course Outline

This course covers the principles and techniques in the measurement of electrical quantities using digital multimeters. Special attention is given to important practical issues such as the impact of grounding, interference, temperature, loading, cable and connectors to the accuracy of measurement effects. The participants will learn how to read and understand the multimeter's specificationsand, carry out simple measurement uncertainty estimation, and evaluate the suitability of a multimeter for its application. Measurement demonstrations will be conducted during the course to illustrate some of the measurement techniques.
