World Metrology Day 2014

In commemoration of World Metrology Day this year, the National Metrology Centre (NMC) held a conference and an open house on May 21st.

More than 100 industry partners took part in the event, exchanging ideas and finding out more about the services provided by NMC. They also had the opportunity to tour NMC’s metrology laboratories during the open house session.

At the event, Dr. Thomas Liew, Executive Director of National Metrology Centre also announced two newly developed measurement capabilities for solar photovoltaic and for LED light measurement.

NMC has established a metrology laboratory for photovoltaic measurement and calibration of solar cells and devices. NMC is among a few leading laboratories in the world capable of achieving highly accurate solar PV measurements. With the establishment of the capability to accurately evaluate the optical radiation of LED lamps and systems, it will enable industry partners to improve safety and quality of LED lighting products, as these devices become more prevalent.

Topics on optical metrology and pressure/ flow metrology for energy industry and NMC’s Measurement Assurance Program were covered at the conference
