Temperature Measurements

Course Outline
The course consists of four self-contained modules. A participant can choose to register for all four modules or any modules of the course. The Module 1 covers the principles and techniques for temperature measurements including the basic concepts of traceability, common errors and how to minimise them, measurement standards and instruments, how to use calibration reports as well as measurement uncertainty. Module 2 covers the basic principles of Platinum Resistance Thermometer, Thermistor and the calibration techniques. Module 3 covers the basic principles of thermocouple and the calibration techniques. Module 4 covers the basic principles of liquid-in-glass thermometers and the calibration techniques. 
Module 1 is a pre-requisite for participants who are taking any or all of Module 2 to 4. This course will be useful for participants who need to measure temperatures in testing, quality control, production floor, management and technical staff. Module 2 to 4 are for people who want to know in details the basic principles and calibration methods of resistance thermometers, thermocouples, liquid-in-glass thermometers.

Course Instructors 
Mr Victor Tan is a principal metrologist in the Temperature Laboratory in NMC. He has 30 years of experience in the field of temperature metrology.

A participant can choose to register for all four modules or any modules of the course. Module 1 is a pre-requisite for module 2 to 4. To register for the course, please send the signed registration form to  two weeks before the course date.

Due to the limited number of places, acceptance of registration will be based on a first-come-first-served basis.  All successful registrants will be informed.  Payment is required on registration confirmation.  Crossed cheques should be made payable to “SCEI-NMC”.  Payment can also be made by credit card and NETS.  If a registrant is unable to attend, another candidate may replace him/her.  A 50% refund will be made only for withdrawals received in writing at least five days before the commencement of the course.  NMC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course.  In the event of cancellation, registration fees will be refunded in full.
