Discussion of Measurement & Verification of HVAC systems

The cooling system of a building can account for 30% to 50% of total building energy usage. Building owners, Facility Managers (FMs) and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Consultants have the onus to prove their building systems especially the Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system meets specific requirements in order to achieve Green Mark status. Measurement and Verification (M&V) consultants have to independently verify that these systems are performing as expected per the Green Mark class the building is said to have achieved with an accuracy of within ± 5% for the measurements of Electric, Flow and Temperature of the system.

This seminar provided a platform for industry to discuss the challenges and issues pertaining to accurate measurement of energy used in buildings especially for HVAC systems. It seeks to bring speakers and participants to dialogue on the challenges and solutions for measurements pertaining to HVAC and the challenges in meeting code of practice per SS591.
