Introduction to Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation with Microwave Measurement Examples

[Course Brochure][Registration Form]

Course Outline

This course covers the basic metrology and concepts of measurement uncertainty based on the ISO/IEC Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). Concepts and definitions of some of the major metrological terms will be introduced. The course aims to provide a practical understanding of measurement uncertainty evaluation, with examples in microwave measurements. Practical case studies will be presented during the course in which the participants will learn how to identify major error sources and carry out measurement uncertainty estimation.

Course Instructors

Dr. Thomas Wu is a metrologist at the RF/Microwave Lab in National Metrology Centre (NMC). Dr Wu has developed Singapore’s metrology standards for microwave & millimeter-wave attenuation and phase noise. He is a Technical Assessor for Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) and a member of the SAC Proficiency Testing Technical Committee. He had served as peer reviewer for other national standard laboratory. Dr Wu has also been involved in developing NMC’s Measurement Assurance Program since 2012 to provide training and Proficiency Test for the industry.
