The Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC) is a joint initiative of the Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciencs (SICS), A*STAR and the National University Health System (NUHS). The CNRC comprises of a newly developed, dedicated physical facility for human research in nutrition in the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Centre for Translational Medicine building. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers at the new Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC). The CNRC undertakes research on a wide range of topics, including energy regulation, body composition, carbohydrate/ lipid/ protein metabolism and aspects of food intake, and human growth and development. A new research theme is on food engineering to enhance Nutrition and Health.

 

The Senior Principal Investigator will initiate, stimulate and lead a group of scientists at the frontiers of food and nutrition research. The individual should think strategically, be a visionary and be able to operate at the national and international level.  The candidate will also have a unique opportunity in contributing to the future research direction of CNRC and the food & nutrition environment of Singapore.  The position offers an exciting career development and opportunities for the right person.

 

The Senior Principal Investigator will also oversee and interact with researchers. Responsibilities also include liaison with and providing technical advice and interacting with the food industry, government and academia. The individual should also play a strategic role in capacity building and enhancement of the scientific capability of the research group.

 

The Senior Principal Investigator will work alongside the Director of CNRC, Director of Food Nutrition to establish the strategic/research programme of CNRC. He/ She will ensure seamless collaboration between A*STAR, NUS and industrial collaborators.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in physiology, biochemistry, food science, neuro-science, nutrition or equivalent, with additional experience.

  • PhD scientist with experience in the food industry and ability to write and present scientific observations to a wider lay audience. Strong technical background in food, nutrition or biochemistry 

  • 10 – 15 years of relevant research experience as a principal investigator or equivalent role; prior experience in cross-disciplinary team management.

  •   Outstanding track record in industry and/ or academic research.

  • Ability to translate research findings to industry and social outcomes

  • Leadership qualities or supervision of post graduate researchers. Ability to organize and plan scientific meetings.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of statistics related to data handling.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to provide focus and leadership in food nutrition or physiology.

  • Ability to commercialize food nutrition research and to work closely with industry will be a great advantage.

  • An inspirational and influential leader with substantial scientific and industrial experience.
