Clara Cheong joined SICS as a research fellow in 2008 and through her work in genomic imprinting and identifying novel epigenetic biomarkers for metabolic health, she rose through the ranks to become a research scientist.
However, Cheong subsequently crossed over to a more administrative role, providing senior management with strategic support, particularly in major funding applications, advisory board meetings, and research cohort study operations. She now helms the administrative and scientific affairs departments at SICS, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the institute among other key responsibilities.
In addition to graduating with a BA cum laude in Biology & Chemistry from Cornell University and obtaining her PhD in Developmental Biology from the National University of Singapore, Cheong also has an Executive Education Certificate from Stanford University.
