Welcome to the Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI), the newest research institute under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore!

Launched in 2020, SIFBI aims to bring cutting edge science and technology to the forefront to drive innovation in food, nutrition, ingredients, industrial biotechnology, and many other related applications.

Our priorities include:

§  Sustaining scientific excellence in food, nutrition, ingredients, and industrial biotech, and building capabilities that support Singapore’s industry sectors;

§  Partnering industry and the public sector in science, technology and innovation, and driving Singapore towards becoming an Asian Food Innovation Hub;

§  Enhancing human health and well-being through translating research findings into healthy food products;

§  Supporting Singapore’s “30 by 30” national goal of producing 30% of the nation’s nutritional needs by 2030, and satisfying the world’s demand for safer, healthier and more sustainable food.

Our institute comprises multi-disciplinary expertise in food science and biotechnology innovation, which serves as an interface to food as well as consumer care industries, providing a conducive environment to nurture talent development in niche areas.

We would like to welcome like-minded enthusiasts to partner us on our exciting journeys from ideation to translation!
