Seminar on Lean Manufacturing - A Way for Productivity Improvement

Date: 24 May 2012 - 24 May 2012

Venue: SIMTech Training Room Level 3

Introduction

The concept of Lean manufacturing (or simply Lean) was derived from Toyota Production System (TPS) in 1990s, over last two decades it has been transforming from a “trend” to a “way of life”. As a production practice, Lean manufacturing is essentially a refined version of productivity continuous improvement effort by eliminating wastes. Lean manufacturing has been identified as a powerful  tool to help enterprises to achieve productivity improvement. The goal of Lean manufacturing is to preserve value with less work by removing wastes through process improvement with consideration of optimising flow or smoothness of work. The challenge of Lean manufacturing now is more on implementation, i.e. how to make Lean based process improvement programs success. This seminar aims to create awareness on Lean manufacturing in local industries and share with the industries how  Lean Manufacturing  can improve  companies' productivity. Lean principles, Lean tools and approach for Lean implementation and applications of Lean manufacturing will be introduced.
