Seminar on Productivity Improvement through Lean Manufacturing
Date: 25 Aug 2011 - 25 Aug 2011
Venue: Auditorium, Level 3, Tower Block, 71 Nanyang Drive
Production systems are changing faster due to the pressure to meet the increasingly selective and diverse needs of consumers. Forces driving the changes are the globalisation, focused market segmentation, shorter product life cycles and widespread used of information technologies. This has forced firms to introduce novel products more rapidly to gain and maintain an upper hand in the market. Innovation in production systems has therefore become an imperative for the manufacturing industries. Lean manufacturing, originating from and often synonymously known as the Toyota Production System (TPS), is one of the well-known and highly required innovations in the production system. Lean manufacturing is a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating waste through continuous improvement by flowing the product at the pull of the customer. Lean manufacturing has been identified as a powerful tool to help enterprises to achieve productivity improvement.
This seminar aims to create awareness on Lean manufacturing in local industries and share with the industries how Lean manufacturing can improve companies' productivity. Lean principles, different types of wastes, Lean tools and approach for Lean implementation and applications of Lean manufacturing will be introduced.
