As cost competition and business models are changing in the aerospace sector with pay-by-the hour concept for engines, requirements on both manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) are changing. Surface conditioning is of critical importance to both cost effectiveness and for extending component life-span. This half day seminar focus on the trends for surface conditioning in both manufacturing and MRO as well as critical technologies to achieve the right quality, and productivity without compromising cost.

About the presenters
Mr Otto Pobuda started his career in 1974 as the Purchasing Manager at Philips Industry-Vienna and later joined J. Tauss GmbH-Vienna and Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH-Germany as a Sales Manager Shot Blasting in 1978 and 1998 respectively.
In 2004, he was the Chief Representative at Rosler Oberflachentechnik GmbH , Beijing Representative Office- P.R.China.. Mr Pobuda is currently the General Manager of Rosler Surface Tech (Beijing) Co., Ltd – P.R.China.
Mr Juha Siiriäinen holds a B.Sc and M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Strength of Materials (Helsinki University of Technology). He has 27 years experience in research, commerce and industry in various tasks, from design and control of pressure vessels, supervision to management of transportation equipment . He was a Technical Manager and Production Management Consultant. His present job is Export Director of Stresstech and manages sales and application consultation in Asia and Pacific area. He is based at Stresstech's head office in Jyvaskyla, Finland.
Dr Anders Jarfors was awarded both his Msc and PhD from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Dr Jarfors has close to twenty years of experience in light alloy research. His research is focused on the relation between the liquid forging of wrought materials and the control of mechanical properties. The work also targets novel magnesium materials for high strength. In addition to this, work on hybrid super plastic forming is ongoing with the target to develop techniques for mechanical performing for improved thickness control and productivity.
