Laser applications in the manufacturing industry are increasingly widespread, ranging from laser welding of components, laser colour marking of materials and laser surface hardening among many others. This laser course will provide participants with an overview of how lasers are being incorporated in modern manufacturing environments as well as the fundamentals of laser technology, hands-on applications and the safety in operating lasers.
1. Select laser cutting technology
2. Prepare laser cutting equipment and materials
3. Convert, analyse and validate CAD/CAM files
4. Operate laser cutting system equipment
5. Operate laser welding system equipment
6. Operate laser surface modification system equipment
Who Should Attend
Managers, assistant managers, engineers, executives and technologists from the precision engineering, electronics, automotive, and aerospace industries.
The course leaders are a team of SIMTech researchers from the Machining Technology Group, which primarily conducts research in laser materials processing, particularly in high power laser processing, laser micromachining and other laser-related manufacturing processes. The team has worked extensively with the industry in various areas of laser materials processing such as laser welding of automotive components, laser colour marking of selected materials, laser surface hardening of aerospace components, laser via drilling of printed circuit boards, laser dicing and ablation of electronic materials.
Pre-registration for the course is necessary. Fee is inclusive of course material, buffet dinner (halal) and refreshments.
