Advanced Cold Rotary Forming Technology for High Precision Metal Components
Date: 26 Apr 2007 - 26 Apr 2007
Venue: Auditorium, Tower Block, SIMTech, 71 Nanyang Drive
Among all manufacturing processes, forging technology has a special place because it helps to produce parts of superior mechanical properties with minimum waste of material. In recent years as the manufacturing industry is moving towards high precision and value added components, there is an increase demand from OEMs for components of higher added value for their supplier companies. In effect, these components are net or near net shape without an increase in price. The main drive from this are from the automotive industry but the aerospace is becoming more interested as margins are being cut and inevitably the need will become of increasing importance to other areas of manufacturing industry facing global competition.
The half day seminar aims to introduce the capabilities and benefits of the cold rotary forming process. Recent development in cold rotary forming will also be featured. The seminar will also highlight some of the schemes and upcoming consortium to assist local companies in improving/building their capabilities not only in the area of traditional precision cold forging but also enhancing their business opportunities in the world-wide automotive and aerospace components manufacturing market by building their capabilities in the cold rotary forming process, which are perceived as an attractive alternative process to traditional forging technology.
