Course Introduction

Laser as a manufacturing tool has been widely used in local industries for cutting, drilling, marking, etc. The objective of the course is to provide the participants with essential training so that they can use lasers more efficiently, manipulate laser beams more confidently and work with lasers more independently. The course will benefit industry professionals, engineers, researchers, academic staff and technicians who wish to know more about its mechanisms and fundamentals. A total of six sessions covering laser principles, laser systems and characterisation, laser beam manipulation and delivery, laser beam quality and improvement, and laser micromachining will be conducted mainly by Professor H Weber, a distinguished expert and pioneer in solid state lasers.
