Course Outline :

This course will provide an understanding on the latest advances in the major precision molding and forming technologies for metal and polymer materials relevant to the present and future processing technologies in Singapore.

It will also create an excellent opportunity for polymer and metallic practitioners to congregate and understand each other’s forming technologies, especially for those who are interested in exploring the possibility of switching over from plastic injection molding to powder (metal and ceramic) injection molding (PIM).

Topics on polymer molding, polymer materials & processing, advanced powder and micro powder injection molding, bulk forming as well as various casting process and simulation will be covered in this course. Lab tours and practical case studies will also be included.

The Forming Technology Group
The Forming Technology (FT) group conducts researches in metallic, polymer materials and new process development including application of nano-sized powders and producing nano-sized grain size bulk structure materials as well as bio- polymer and ceramic materials. The group also offers support to local parties setting up new manufacturing operations in Singapore or overseas.
