This half-day seminar highlight recent advances in RFID technology and progress in RFID adoption for productivity improvement. A speaker from the NTU Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre will share with participants the large scale RFID systems technology. SIMTech researchers will also be presenting industrial case studies on recent adoption of RFID in construction and semiconductor industries. A roundtable discussion will be held after the Seminar to provide the opportunity to hear from participants and gather feedback on industry challenges and needs with regard to productivity innovation.
About the Speakers
Dr John Gan Oon Peen is SIMTech Research Scientist and Group Manager, Manufacturing Execution and Control. His research interests include intelligent control for discrete systems, stochastic optimisation, discrete events system modelling, data mining and industrial control. He has also completed several RFID feasibility studies, including RFID for Air Cargo Tracking. He also serves as a technical member of the National RFID Centre. Prior to joining SIMTech, he was a researcher with the Centre for Process System Engineering, Imperial College London.
Dr Mo Li is an Assistant Professor from School of Computer Engineering of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research interests cover a wide range of wireless and mobile systems, including wireless sensor networks, RFID systems, smart phones, etc. He has published a number of research papers in the field on reputed conferences and journals including ACM MobiCom, MobiSys, SenSys; IEEE INFOCOM, ICNP, ICDCS; TON, TMC, TPDS, TOSN, etc. He won Hong Kong ICT Award - Best Innovation and Research Grand Award in 2007 and ACM Hong Kong Chapter Prof. Francis Chin Research Award in 2009 for his research of developing the sensor network surveillance system for coal mine monitoring. In 2011, he won the Second Class State Natural Science Award conferred by the State Council of the People's Republic of China for his research on wireless localization. He was conferred as titled Nanyang Assistant Professor (NAP) in 2011.
Mr Tan Chak Huah is a Principal Research Engineer with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) since 1986. He has been involved in various industrial projects for shop floor track and trace using RFID technology, material handling, and condition-based monitoring. He has experience in system modeling, database design, and resource allocation for discrete manufacturing execution systems.
