This invited research lecture is designed to introduce the latest development in nanoprecision micro mechanical fabrication technologies which are expanding applications in precision engineering, automotive, optics and aerospace industries. The guest speaker from RIKEN Advanced Science Institute (Japan) will introduce the most recently developed technologies. This lecture will benefit participants from local industry and research community to learn not only the most advanced technologies from leading researchers in nanoprecision manufacturing but also the global trends of ultra precision mirco fabrication technologies.
ELID (Electrolytic In-process Dressing) grinding is one of the nanoprecision manufacturing technologies and is applied to micro and ultra fabrication of advanced and industrial components, micro fabrication on the basis of desktop machine tools and several essential processes was also developed. Ultra precision, large and fine fabrication is named as "ultra Fabrication" and being developed to produce critical components.
About the Speaker
Dr Hitoshi Ohmori is Chief Scientist at RIKEN Advanced Science Institute in Japan. Graduated from University of Tokyo with a PhD in Engineering in 1991, Dr Ohmori began his scientific career with RIKEN Advanced Science Institute as Research Scientist of Materials Fabrication Laboratory in 1991 and was promoted to Vice Chief Scientist in 1998 leading to the next promotion as Chief Scientist in 2001.
As a principal investigator at RIKEN, Dr Ohmori's research areas encompass nanoprecision mechanical fabrication processes for micro-structural / functional devices; ultrafine transcription and computational mechanics assisted processes, applications of micro-fabrication processes, including research on tribofabrication processes. He has published several scientific articles in international journal of automation technology, international journal of nano technology and annals of the CIRP.
