Dr. Zhang has more than 20 years experiences in knowledge-based systems and enterprise information systems development. His research interests include knowledge management, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer security, software engineering, software development methodology and standard, intelligent control systems and enterprise information systems, Color management and control systems. He has led and involved in many key projects such as Blackboard based integration framework, Object-oriented Rule-based Inference Tool Kit for C++(ORIT++TM), QuickMouldTM, Enterprise management/execution information system (iPROMISETM) and Enterprise-centric IT(EPC-IT), Intelligent Color Calibration System (ICCS TM), color durability test, intelligent dispensing system, Quantitative analysis of SC visibility, Quantifying SC disruption risk, etc. He was seconded to Kikuze Solutions Pte Ltd as Chief Scientist for 2 years since May 2003 under T-UP programme to help local SMEs upgrade their technologies. He won the second class award of Science & Technology Progress issued by the National Education Committee of China in 1988 and MOT Minister's Innovation Award - Merit issued by Ministry of Transport of Singapore in 2010. He has successfully co-supervised 15 PhD and Master students with universities such as MIT, Jacobs University, RWTH Aachen University, NTU, and NUS, etc.
His current research focus is in Supply chain disruption risk analysis using data mining techniques and complex systems approach, Supply Chain Visibility, Multi-project optimization, Tracking Process based on RFID, Human Cognition and Emotion, Artificial Intelligence, Product Design Knowledge Discovery & Processing and Advanced Technologies for Color Print Standardization.
