About Microfluidics

Microfluidics is an emerging technology which leverages on the miniaturisation of fluid handling system to enable precise control of small fluid volumes for various applications. The integration of various microfluidic components on a chip has allowed complex and labour-intensive laboratory procedure to be carried out automatically on a chip (lab-on-a-chip). The key advantageous attributes of microfluidics include high throughput, low material usage, reproducible results, and reduced human error. These advantages of microfluidics technology are often applied in point-of-care and clinical diagnostics, pharmaceutical and life science research, analytical and monitoring devices, and drug delivery.
