A delegation of 18 high-level Mexican representatives from the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and Mexican Universities visited A*STAR on 1 July 2011. The delegation was led by Dr José Enrique Villa- Director General of CONACYT. The meeting was hosted by Prof Low Teck Seng- Managing Director of A*STAR- with the attendance of Prof Tan Eng Chye- Provost of NUS- and Prof Michael Khor- Associate Provost of NTU. The delegation had a warm discussion about the research and development framework in Singapore. The meeting concluded with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between A*STAR and CONACYT (which aims to promote collaborations in Science and Technology between Mexico and Singapore)- and the signing of the Letter of Intent between A*STAR and Mexico’s National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) (which aims to promote joint training and supervision of PhD students- and student exchanges for research attachments). The delegates also had the opportunity to visit the FusionWorld Gallery- which was hosted by Dr Raj Thampuran- Executive Director of SERC.
