URBAN SOLUTIONS & SUSTAINABILITY (USS)

  • e-ASIA JRP works to formulate and support international joint research in the East Asian region, with the aims to develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in Science and Technology, to promote innovation in the East Asian region, and to contribute to the economic development in the region. 


  • LOW-CARBON ENERGY RESEARCH FUNDING INITIATIVE (LCER FI) FIRST GRANT CALL 2021

  • LCER FI aims to develop low-carbon energy technologies in the domain of carbon capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS) and hydrogen, as part of Singapore’s long-term decarbonisation strategies for the power and industry sectors.


  • SINGAPORE FOOD STORY THEME 2 FUTURE FOODS 2ND SEED GRANT CALL

  • The Future Foods: 2nd Seed Grant Call aims to foster knowledge creation and catalyse early-stage innovations to strengthen the functionality and nutrition of Alternative Proteins products and enable diversification of raw materials and inputs for Alternative Proteins production


  • SINGAPORE FOOD STORY HHP & MTC IAF-PP GRANT CALL ON FUTURE FOODS: ADVANCED BIOTECH-BASED PROTEIN PRODUCTION

  • To develop industry-ready capabilities towards deepening alignment of public sector research, and to develop multidisciplinary and integrated programmes with early industry involvement in the area of alternative protein.


  • SINGAPORE FOOD STORY THEME 3 GRANT CALL

  • To build local food safety capabilities to support growing innovation in novel food production and manufacturing.


Human Health and Potential (HHP)

  • AMED-A*STAR JOINT GRANT CALL - "TACKLING AND CONQUERING CANCER COMPLEXITY"
  • In the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) dated March 16th, 2016, Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (hereinafter referred to as “AMED”) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore (hereinafter referred to as “A*STAR”) have expressed the desire to strengthen R&D cooperation between scientists in Japan and Singapore in biomedical scientific research. The AMED-A*STAR joint call is therefore being launched to take the AMED-A*STAR engagement to a deeper level. For this call, “Cancer Complexity” was selected as the specific research area. 

  • INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT FUND - PRE-POSITIONING PROGRAMME (IAF-PP)
  • IAF-PP aims to develop industry-ready capabilities to deepen alignment of public sector research, as well as multidisciplinary and integrated programmes with early industry involvement. Programmes are expected to lead to industry participation within 3-5 years. This encompasses new programmes, as well as existing programmes that have demonstrated strong track record of success and industry potential. Programmes supported should be aligned with HHP or MTC domain themes and strategies.

  • SINGAPORE THERAPEUTICS DEVELOPMENT REVIEW (STDR) 2023

STDR aims to boost the quality and quantity of drug development and biotech pipelines in Singapore through 2 key features:

  1. Phased funding support to potential high-value drug discovery and development projects from the local public sector research community, based on the maturity and industry-readiness of projects; and
  2. Mentoring from leading entrepreneurs, innovators and/or venture capitalists, training through bootcamps, workshops and/or seminars, as well as industry networking opportunities to provide dedicated guidance and upskilling opportunities to grant awardees.
  • HUMAN POTENTIAL - PRENATAL / EARLY CHILDHOOD GRANT CALL

  • This grant call aims to support targeted basic and applied research in child and maternal health and well-being as well as child health and learning. This will cover the preconception, pregnancy and early childhood (-1 to 6 year old) period of life, with a focus on research with a clear pathway to translation and impact.


Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity (MTC)

  • FIRST EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION (ITA - SGP)
  • Within the framework of the Scientific and Technological  Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Italy and the Government of Singapore, signed in Rome, Italy on 23rd May 2016  and entered into force on 26th June 2020, the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation - Office IX - of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) under the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) are opening a call for proposals for the First  Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation for the years 2023 - 2025.


  • MTC - INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH GRANT & YOUNG INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH GRANT (MTC IRG YIRG)

  • To develop novel and fresh R&D ideas in line with the MTC strategies and goals, and solicited through an investigator-led, ground-up mechanism across the research ecosystem.


  • MTC PROGRAMMATIC FUNDING INITIATIVE

  • The MTC Programmatic Funding Intiatives (FI) supports long term, capability-building projects that have the potential to deliver significant impact to Singapore, typically beyond a five year timeframe.


  • INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT FUND - PRE-POSITIONING PROGRAMME (IAF-PP)

  • To develop industry-ready capabilities towards deepening alignment of public sector research, and to develop multidisciplinary and integrated programmes with early industry involvement.

INNOVATION & ENTERPRISE (I&E)

  • INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT FUND – INDUSTRY COLLABORATION PROJECTS (IAF-ICP)

  • To support public research performers in strategic R&D projects with industry.

To strengthen grant governance processes and practices, A*STAR has a Whistleblowing Framework for individuals to raise any concerns, in confidence and without any fear of reprisal, on possible improprieties that involve A*STAR's employees, and/or Grantees funded directly by A*STAR.
