About the Grant

MTC MISSION funds sector-aligned, mission-driven R&D with clear pathways to industry deployment and outsized commercial impact within 10 years. Programmes are capped at 5 years; successful ones may receive follow-on funding, e.g. IAF-ICP.

Application Procedure

MTC MISSION FI is different from typical grant as it adopts a Sector-directed and PD-led governance framework. Sector Leads from economic agencies will define strategic investment areas and oversee Programme relevance and impact, while PDs are empowered to manage Programme execution, including project selection, funding allocation, and termination or re-scoping of projects.

Applications are not submitted through a centralised grant call but are instead sourced and curated by the PD through a combination of direct or open calls, aligned to the Programme’s problem statements. 
Key evaluation criteria include: A clear pathway towards industry deployment and economic impact. 

  • PDs will initiate the call for proposals when the Programme have been setup.
  • The call for proposals has a one-stage review process, applicants do not need to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI).
  • The Lead PI is required to submit the full proposal and necessary supporting documents via email to the MTC MISSION Implementing Agency (MTC_MISSION@a-star.edu.sg).
  • Late submissions or submissions from individual applicants without endorsement from the Host Institution will not be accepted.
