Dr. Su Yi is the Executive Director of the Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing (IAIC), where he leads the institute’s strategy, capabilities and partnerships across artificial intelligence, high performance computing, and modelling and simulation. He plays a key role in advancing IAIC’s mission to integrate advanced computing, AI and digital research platforms for scientific, industrial and national impact.
He also helps lead national initiatives in advanced computing, including quantum and hybrid computing programmes, and has contributed to strategic platforms that strengthen Singapore’s capabilities in AI, HPC and computational research. His work brings together research and ecosystem partnerships to support translation and national priorities in science and technology.
Prior to this, Dr Su served as Executive Director of A*STAR IHPC, having earlier held the roles of Deputy Executive Director and Director of Strategic Planning & Development. In these positions, he led the institute’s research and organisational development, and drove transformation in research planning, digitalisation, data stewardship and business intelligence. He also held A*STAR-wide leadership roles as Executive Director-in-Charge of the Health & Medical Technology; Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Informatics, and Social Sciences and Technology Horizontal Technology Coordinating Offices. Earlier in his career, Dr Su was seconded from A*STAR to SMRT Corporation, where he served as Director of the Data Analytics Department and headed the A*STAR-SMRT Urban Mobility Innovation Centre.
