Linked to advanced manufacturing- this string of industry events include the Future of Manufacturing Summit @ Singapore- the Launch of A*STAR’s Tech Access Initiative- and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) World Tour. They underscored A*STAR’s commitment to Singapore’s push for advanced manufacturing to keep the industry globally competitive.

The Future of Manufacturing Summit was graced by Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S Iswaran- who emphasised the importance of strengthening partnerships within the local manufacturing sector- given the complex and dynamic nature of future of manufacturing. He also announced that A*STAR and the National University of Singapore (NUS) and leading pharmaceutical companies GSK- Pfizer and MSD will establish the Pharma Innovation Programme Singapore (PIPS)- with the aim of transforming pharma manufacturing operations and technologies.

Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Trade and Industry Dr Koh Poh Koon officially launched A*STAR’s Tech Access initiative and the Industrial Additive Manufacturing Facility (IAMF) held at the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC).

SMS Koh highlighted that with Tech Access- the government is stepping up its efforts to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) innovate and adopt advanced manufacturing technologies- enabling all of them to transform operations. The equipment under the Tech Access Initiative are housed at the ARTC- and Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and the new IAMF.

 

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) World Tour on 15 September 2017

Ms Low Yen Ling- Senior Parliamentary Secretary- Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of Education- was Guest-of-Honour at the IIoT World Tour hosted by A*STAR and co-organised with the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and Germany’s Plattform Industrie 4.0.

At the event- A*STAR launched an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Initiative- Singapore’s first public-private programme for aftermarket digital customer care. To kick off the IIoT initiative- A*STAR signed an MoU with 13 companies comprising Multinational Corporations (MNCs)- Large Local Enterprises (LLEs)- and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the IIoT value chain.

In her opening address- SPS Low announced A*STAR’s MoU Signing with 13 companies- which will collaborate on the digitalisation of the industrial customer care sector under A*STAR’s IIoT Initiative.
