SINGAPORE AEROSPACE PROGRAMME

Leading Aerospace Hub in Asia

Singapore is the leading aerospace hub within Asia, offering a comprehensive range of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services and advanced manufacturing capabilities. As a one-stop shop for all aerospace needs, Singapore is home to the highest concentration of aerospace companies in Asia. These include many of the world’s leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and MRO service providers as well as Singapore companies supporting the industry.

The Aerospace Industry Transformation Map (ITM) was launched in January 2018 and was refreshed in October 2022. The Aerospace ITM 2025 maps the strategies that will cement Singapore as a global node for aerospace manufacturing and MRO, with leadership in engine MRO, and participate in future aircraft development programmes through emerging areas.

Singapore Aerospace Programme

The Singapore Aerospace Programme (SAP) is a pre-competitive research programme with membership comprising of major international aerospace companies along with the A*STAR Research Institutes and complemented by the Institutes of Higher Learning and Local Enterprises.

SAP supports the refreshed Aerospace Industry Transformation Map 2025 by driving transformation through R&D in manufacturing and MRO for aerospace and pre-positioning the local ecosystem for emerging areas such as Sustainability. The programme operates with the following characteristics:

  • Industry-Relevant Projects based on problem statements presented by industry partners that give insights into industry priorities and strategies for future positioning and long-term growth
  • Pre-Competitive Research topics typically between technology readiness level (TRL) 3 and 6 which are non-sensitive commercially and includes the exploration of strategic emerging areas
  • Collaborative Research Platform which enables cross-fertilisation of ideas amongst research performers in the local R&D ecosystem, international industry players and local enterprises
