SINGAPORE AEROSPACE PROGRAMME

Leading Aerospace Hub in Asia-Pacific

Asia-Pacific has the fastest growing commercial aviation market in the world. Within Asia-Pacific, Singapore is the leading aerospace hub, offering a comprehensive range of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services and advanced manufacturing capabilities. As a one-stop shop for all aerospace needs, Singapore is home to the highest concentration of aerospace companies in Asia. These include many of the world’s leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and MRO service providers. These include world-renowned multinational corporations as well as Singapore companies that are global players.

In January 2018, the Aerospace Industry Transformation Map (ITM) was launched. The ITM maps our strategies that will build Singapore into “a globally recognised aerospace nation, capable of design, engineering, production and aftermarket services for the world’s major aircraft programmes”.

Singapore Aerospace Programme

A*STAR supports Singapore’s vision to be “a globally recognised aerospace nation”, by driving innovation in emerging technologies and developing industry-relevant technologies.

The Singapore Aerospace Programme is a flagship effort in Singapore to strengthen and grow the value chain in key segments of the Singapore aerospace industry. The programme operates as a consortium with the following focus:

  • Problem statements as defined by consortium members, for their future technology positioning and long term sustained growth
  • Research at mid technology readiness levels where many new technologies are being explored, and in topics that are not yet commercially-sensitive
  • Collaborative research platform enabling cross-fertilisation of ideas amongst research performers and consortium members
