A*STAR Integrated Central Operations & Research Enablers (iCORE) plays a vital strategic role in strengthening the biomedical research ecosystem by delivering reliable, efficient, and future-ready scientific and operational support. By integrating deep expertise, research infrastructure, and optimised operations iCORE ensures that researchers across A*STAR, academia, and industry can focus on scientific innovation whilst relying on critical support functions operating seamlessly in the background.
iCORE is built on three major pillars: iCORE Platforms, Laboratory Operations, and the Office of iCORE, integrated to provide both front-end scientific capabilities and back-end operational excellence. Together, these functions enable end-to-end support elevating research quality and efficiency across the ecosystem.

Our key contributions include:
iCORE enables innovation and multidisciplinary research through a network of World class scientific platforms. These platforms provide access to cutting edge equipment, specialised technologies, and professional scientific services delivered by dedicated technical experts. By centralising and coordinating shared research capabilities, iCORE accelerates scientific discovery, improves utilisation of high value assets and ensures consistent, high quality support across research programmes.
Our Laboratory Operations team underpins the daily functioning of A*STAR laboratories with essential services that keep research running smoothly and safely. This includes research consumables supply, laboratory glassware washing, sterilisation services, biohazard waste management, ultra low temperature freezer and cryo storage solutions and laboratory workflow coordination. These critical functions ensure that laboratories remain compliant, efficient and fully operational - allowing scientists to focus their time and expertise on research rather than operational or logistical tasks.
The Office of iCORE serves as the central gateway for users, managing front end coordination, enquiries, partnerships and access to all iCORE services. It supports the broader research ecosystem through streamlined processes, user engagement, and programme management. By meeting needs from across A*STAR, academic institutions and industry partners, the Office ensures that iCORE’s services remain responsive, integrated and strategically positioned to meet evolving scientific and operational demands.
