Article Title: A*STAR Study Reveals New Insights into Autism and Early Brain Development
Researchers from the ASTAR Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and ASTAR Bioinformatics Institute (BII) have uncovered how spatial differences in early brain development may contribute to the diversity of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Published in Nature Communications, the study used brain organoids, single-cell analysis and computational modelling to show that developmental changes associated with autism can occur in distinct regions of the developing brain rather than uniformly across the tissue.
