The one-north Festival is a celebration of Research- Innovation- Creativity and Enterprise. Jointly organised by A*STAR- JTC- and Science Centre Singapore- this event encourages the public to immerse in science and technology through fun interactive displays- inspiring talks by scientists and media creators- exhilarating science performances and behind-the-scenes tours for the whole family.

This year’s edition of one-north Festival was focused on how we can innovate for a sustainable planet- and address challenges facing our precious earth such as global warming- environmental pollution and resource allocation.

At the opening of one-north Festival’s public programme- Dr Janil Puthucheary- Senior Minister of State- Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Transport- remarked that science- innovation- and technology- combined with effort- can contribute significantly to change Singapore’s sustainability efforts. He also mentioned that digitalisation has a key part to play in accelerating the transition to a more sustainable Singapore. The one-north campus is home to many A*STAR labs where scientists work together with public sector partners on innovation projects- contributing towards Singapore's efforts in creating a circular economy and moving towards zero waste.

SMS Janil also presented awards to the winners of the A*STAR-ESSEC Business School Innovation Pitch Day competition. The contestants developed many innovative ideas to build solutions for today's societal environmental issues. In interviews with the media- Professor Lisa Ng- Executive Director of the A*STAR Graduate Academy- highlighted the one-north Festival’s clear mission for the public to understand how climate change could shape our futures- so we know what we can do now to ensure our security.
