    Visit by His Excellency Dr Heinz Fischer- Federal President of the Republic of Austria

    His Excellency Dr Heinz Fischer- Federal President of the Republic of Austria- led an 80-person delegation to visit A*STAR on 21 February 2011- as part of his State visit to Singapore. In the delegation were Mrs Margit Fischer (President’s wife)- Mr. Alois Stoger (Austrian Minister of Health)- Dr. Beatrix Karl (Austrian Minister for Science and Research)- Dr. Klaus Wofler (Austrian Ambassador) and officials- businessmen and academics from Austria- with Singapore’s Minister-in-attendance Mr Lim Swee Say. The Austrian delegation was interested to learn about the role that A*STAR plays in Singapore’s knowledge-based economy- and the developmental plans in Biopolis and Fusionopolis. President Fischer and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Mr Lim Chuan Poh- Chairman A*STAR- who hosted them for a discussion and tours of the FusionWorld Gallery and the Fusionopolis skygarden. The delegates also had the opportunity to visit the One-North Gallery.
