Professor Sir Adrian Smith- Director-General for Knowledge and Innovation of the UK Department of Business- Innovation and Skills (BIS)- visited A*STAR on 3 April 2012. He was accompanied by Professor David Delpy- Chief Executive of UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)- H.E. Antony Phillipson- British High Commissioner in Singapore and 3 other delegates. The delegation was hosted by Mr Lim Chuan Poh- Chairman A*STAR. At the meeting- both parties appreciated the good level of research collaboration between the UK and Singapore- such as through the UK-Singapore Partners in Science Programme- as well as through the numerous projects between A*STAR research institutes and UK public research labs and companies. The meeting also saw a good exchange of the current research landscape and priorities of both countries. The visit ended with a tour of the Skygarden- where the delegation was informed of the upcoming developments in the One-North area.
