EIs are expected to use their research budgets to start novel, significant and impactful projects/programmes, lead a team of junior scientists, and collaborate with strategic global and local partners. With excellent science as the base, these projects must be driven to deliver both scientific and technological outcomes, including IP creation, licenses, industry partnership, scaling up and entrepreneurial ventures such as startups and spinoffs.

Eligibility

  • Doctorate in STEM disciplines, with a focus on areas such as Semiconductor, Precision Medicine, Sustainability, AI in Engineering, Quantum Technology, Robotics, Translational Immunology & Inflammation as well as Advanced Therapeutics. Other emerging areas will also be considered.
  • 5-12 years of post-PhD experience at the intersection of research, innovation and enterprise.

Assessment Criteria

  • Track record: Publications, patents, awards, prior translational or startup experience (e.g., founder of start-up / spin-off, venture creation, licensing, product development etc)
  • Innovation potential: Element of disruptive transformation or value creation and capture using new / unorthodox but effective approaches
  • Impact Orientation: Clear vision for how research addresses economic, societal or industry needs
  • Industry Engagement: Experience with or interest in working with industry partners
  • IP Awareness: Understanding of IP creation, protection, and licensing processes
  • Team & Collaboration: Ability to lead or work within interdisciplinary teams
