A*STAR Youth Researcher Award (Upper Secondary)

Passionate about science and math? The A*STAR Youth Researcher Award (Upper Secondary) is for outstanding Singaporean Secondary 3/4 students with strong aptitude in these fields.

Awardees will also be invited to participate in the STEM Ignite Programme, a 3-day Research Exposure Programme (REP) which will allow awardees to visit A*STAR research institutes, interact with researchers, and participate in hands-on workshops.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be Singaporean
  • Be a Secondary 3/4 student
  • Participating in the MOE Science Mentorship Programme
  • Have outstanding academic performance in science and mathematics subjects and a passion for science and research

Duration

Students will be awarded for the entire year, and will be invited to participate in the STEM Ignite Programme, – a 3-day Research Exposure Programme (REP).

They will also be invited to A*STAR seminars, events, and talks, with regular updates on the latest in science and research in A*STAR.

Application Procedure

The award is offered annually to Secondary 3 / 4 students on the MOE Science Mentorship Programme (SMP).

Terms of Award

The award provides an allowance of S$1,000 and is tenable for one year in Secondary 3 / 4 or its equivalent

Awardees are required to attend a 3-day Research Exposure Programme.

Awardees will have the opportunity to attend a 3-day Research Exposure Programme where they will visit A*STAR research institutes, interact with A*STAR researchers and participate in a research workshop.

Awardees will be invited to A*STAR seminars, outreach events and programmes, as well as talks by A*STAR scientists. Awardees will receive periodic updates on the latest research work at A*STAR and happenings in science and research.

The Award is open to Singaporean secondary 3 students who have outstanding academic performance in science and mathematics subjects and a passion for science and research.

Awards are offered through schools to Secondary 3 (or equivalent) students annually.

Applications are invited through nominations by schools only.
