introduction

Mobile robots have been popularly implemented in many commercial and industrial settings, such as logistics, healthcare services, marine, manufacturing, etc. Many companies are planning to implement autonomous mobile robots to improve their industrial efficiency. With the development of computer science and sensory technology, various types of mobile robots have been designed and developed, such as Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Autonomous Forklifts. Different robots are designed for different tasks, so how to select and configure an appropriate robotic system to serve your application in your environmental setting is an important skill. Robotic engineers must be capable of understanding the robotic fundamentals, selecting the correct mobile robots, designing effective robotic systems, as well as planning their automation projects. This course aims to fill the gaps in knowledge and skills for the manufacturing industry in the areas of autonomous mobile robots.

About the Programme

The course aims to help participants understand and improve the ability from the following aspects:

Identify the hardware components in a mobile robotic system and their functionalities.
Identity and understand the sensors typically used in mobile robotic systems.
Learn the fundamentals of navigation, perception & control for mobile robotics, including its programming and simulation.
Understand the software modules in a robotic system.
Design your own autonomous robotic system according to the specified applications.
Know some real-life examples of mobile robotic systems in the industry.
Understand the common robotic systems, their typical industrial applications

Who should attend

The course is suitable for those who are currently employed or wish to be employed in robotics or industrial automation fields. A typical candidate profile could be:

R&D Engineers and/or Managers
Manufacturing Engineers

Course Outline

The programme employs the Learn-Practise-Implement™ (LPI™) pedagogy with 4 learning areas that are aimed to increase the participants’ level of understanding of the fundamentals and skills of mobility robotic systems.

Key focus areas or applications:

Overview of mobile robotic systems
Introduction to sensing for mobile robotics
Introduction to the software framework of mobile robotic systems
Real-life applications of mobile robotics in industry and manufacturing

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE

Participants will be awarded with a Certificate of Attendance (COA) by SIMTech and/or ARTC if they meet the following criteria:

Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
Take all assessments; and
Pass the course.

Note: Trainees will have to bear the full courses fee upon failure to meet either one of the criteria.

Pre-Requisites

Applicants should possess a degree in any discipline or a diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience.
Applicants who do not have the required academic qualifications are still welcome to apply, but shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview for special approval.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Full Course Fee

The full course fee for this module is $3,300 before funding and prevailing GST.

LONG TERM VISIT PASS PLUS (LTVP+) HOLDERS

The LTVP+ scheme applies to lawful foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens with (i) at least one Singapore Citizen child or are expecting one from the marriage, or at least three years of marriage, and (ii) where the Singapore Citizen sponsor is able to support the family.
All LTVP+ holders can be identified with their green visit pass cards, with the word ‘PLUS’ printed on the back of the card.

ENHANCED TRAINING SUPPORT FOR SMALL & MEDIUM ENTERPRISE (SMEs) SCHEME (ETSS)

The ¹Enhanced Training Support for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) scheme (ETSS) is for company-sponsored participants who are subject to the eligibility criteria shown below:

SMEs that meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

Registered or incorporated in Singapore
Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million

SME-sponsored Trainees:

Must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
Courses have to be fully paid for by the employer.
Trainee is not a full-time national serviceman.

Further Info: This scheme is intended for all organisations, including non-business entities not registered with ACRA e.g. VWOs, societies, etc. Only ministries, statutory boards, and other government agencies are NOT eligible under Enhanced Training Support for SMEs Scheme. Sole proprietorships which meet all of the above criteria are also eligible.

SKILLSFUTURE MID-CAREER ENHANCED SUBSIDY (MCES)

The ²SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) is meant for employer-sponsored and self-sponsored Singapore Citizens aged 40 years old and above.

SkillsFuture Credit

All Singaporeans aged 25 years old and above are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit which can be used to offset course fees (for self-sponsored registrations only).
