Director's Message

Our journey has been one of continuous evolution and purposeful transformation. From our early beginnings as the Biopolis Shared Facilities (BSF) in 2003, to the development of the Research Support Centre (RSC) in 2015, and now to our expanded identity and remit as iCORE, our mission is to enable research excellence by providing robust, reliable and forward-looking scientific and operational support to Singapore’s biomedical research ecosystem.

iCORE stands ready to support integrated, collaborative and dynamic interdisciplinary research. Our recent rebranding reflects more than a change in name- it signals a bold expansion in our remit, our capabilities and the scale at which we operate to provide a higher level of support.

Today, iCORE brings together Technology Platforms, Laboratory Operations, and the Office of iCORE under one unified framework. By integrating scientific services, shared research infrastructure, optimised operations and data-driven insights, we deliver seamless end-to-end support that empowers researchers, enabling them to focus on what matters most: scientific discovery and innovation.

But the true strength of iCORE lies in our people. Across all our teams—technical specialists, operations experts, administrative professionals, and programme coordinators -our staff demonstrate dedication, adaptability, and a deep sense of purpose. Their expertise ensures that daily operations run smoothly, critical infrastructure is well managed, advanced technologies are accessible, and every researcher who comes through our doors receives committed, professional support.

As Director, I am immensely proud of the work we do and the role we play in enabling A*STAR’s research community, as well as our academic and industry partners across Singapore. iCORE is not just an operational unit; we are a strategic enabler, a catalyst for collaboration and a trusted partner in advancing Singapore’s biomedical mission.

Together, our integrated, holistic approach positions iCORE as a trusted partner in advancing scientific research and driving operational efficiency.
