    News 16062026 2 Weeweitee Promotion
Dr Wee Wei TEE, Division Director (Cancer Signalling & Therapy) and Senior Investigator at A*STAR IMCB

SINGAPORE – A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (A*STAR IMCB) warmly congratulates Dr Tee Wee Wei, Director of the Cancer Signalling & Therapy Division and Senior Investigator at the institute, on his promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. This achievement recognises his sustained contributions to cancer research, scientific leadership, and mentorship.

Wee Wei leads a research programme focused on understanding how cancer cells adapt, evolve and change identity. By uncovering the developmental programmes reactivated by cancer cells, his team seeks to identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities and translate fundamental discoveries into future treatments.

Reflecting on the milestone, Wee Wei expressed his gratitude to those who have supported him throughout his scientific journey.

“This promotion is a significant personal milestone, but it is also a reflection of the many people who have supported me along the way – my lab members, past and present, mentors, colleagues, institutional leaders, and family. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey,” said Dr Tee.

Throughout his career, Wee Wei has been guided by perseverance, a commitment to impactful science, and the importance of strong collaborations. These principles continue to shape both his research and leadership approach as he works to advance the understanding of cancer biology and its therapeutic potential.

Looking ahead, Wee Wei remains focused on translating fundamental biological insights into new therapeutic opportunities. “My goal is to bridge fundamental discovery and drug development – transforming deep fundamental biological insights into therapeutic assets that have the potential to become first-in-class medicines,” he said.

At A*STAR IMCB, we are committed to fostering scientific excellence, innovation, and talent development. Wee Wei’s promotion reflects the impact of his scientific contributions, his leadership within the institute and broader research community, and his commitment to nurturing future scientific talent.

We congratulate Wee Wei on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to his continued leadership and contributions to advancing cancer research at IMCB and beyond.
