Junior College Students Experienced Attachment at ISCE2

H3 1
H3 students Krishnan Adaikkappan from National Junior College and Naythan Y. Zhen Xi from Hwa Chong Institution were attached to ISCE2 for 6 months until end-Dec 2022. They were jointly supervised by Dillon Tay, ISCE2 and Shi Jun Ang, Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC).

They were doing artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) and computational quantum chemistry with respect to analytical problems involving liquid chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and natural product chemistry.

They will also be participating in the Singapore Science & Engineering Fair (SSEF) competition with a joint-team project titled “Deep Molecular Dreaming of Next Generation COVID-19 Drugs”.

Krishnan Adaikkappan: "During my time at ISCE², I have discovered the value of networking and communication in the field of science. My experiences in computational chemistry over the past six months have allowed me to develop strong problem-solving skills, and I am thankful for the chance to be a part of this exciting and dynamic field."

Naythan Yeo: "During my time at ISCE2, I have gained valuable insights into the significance of both perseverance and teamwork in the field of science. My experiences in computational chemistry over the past six months have been incredibly fulfilling, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a rewarding journey."

Many thanks to their school supervisors Kelvin Tan Yong Leng (Hwa Chong Institution) and Arthur Goh Chong Meng (National Junior College), as well as A*STAR Graduate Academy for their support.
