Hybrid Quantum Devices
Quantum Materials Processing
Develop quantum-material-compatible processing and device fabrication techniques. Imagine working with material just a few atoms thick! It is incredibly delicate and prone to damage. We are pioneering novel processing methods that enable further experimentation and reliable device fabrication.
We are an experimental group developing next-generation solid-state quantum devices to advance quantum science and engineering. Our focus is on hybrid quantum systems that combine distinct physical platforms to unlock new capabilities beyond what each system can offer individually.
In particular, we are exploring the integration of van der Waals materials with superconducting quantum circuits, with the goal to develop novel qubit modalities. Our research is highly interdisciplinary, drawing from quantum information science, materials spectroscopy, nanofabrication, and cryogenics. We address key questions such as:
How can we better understand, and engineer miniaturised superconducting qubits, and what materials challenges do they present?
Can we design a new circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) architecture enabled by van der Waals materials?
