Undergraduate

National Science Scholarship (BS-PhD)

The National Science Scholarship (BS-PhD) is the only through-train scholarship in Singapore which provides for your undergraduate studies to PhD training. 

Application Deadline: 1 March

All are welcome to apply. Non-Singaporeans must obtain Singapore Permanent Resident status before starting their studies.

The National Science Scholarship (PhD) is awarded to outstanding individuals who wish to pursue a rewarding career in research.

A*STAR Graduate Scholarship 

The A*STAR Graduate Scholarship funds up to four years of PhD or EngD studies at a Singapore university, with four tracks to choose from —
• STEM • Semicon • Quantum • Computing

Application Deadline: 15 February and 10 August

All are welcome to apply. Non-Singaporeans who are not Singapore Permanent Residents will have a 3-year service commitment in Singapore-based companies.

A*STAR International Fellowship 

With the A*STAR International Fellowship, you’ll build a global network, gain overseas exposure, or commercialise your breakthroughs — through our Research and Innovation tracks.

Application Deadline: 14 April and 1 October

All are welcome to apply. Non-Singaporeans are required to have obtained Singapore citizenship prior to the commencement of the fellowship.

While having prior research experience helps to boost your application, it is not mandatory. A*STAR will make a holistic assessment of each application and take into consideration other factors such your achievements in science/maths related competitions and CCAs.  

During the PhD studies, A*STAR scholars receive competitive monthly allowance besides full sponsorship of the tuition fees.  Please refer to the coverage section of the respective scholarship pages for further details. 

Yes, you may apply with your school preliminary results. Please send in your final results as soon as you receive it. 

No, you may apply for the scholarship even if you have not secured admission to any overseas university yet 

In addition to academic excellence and a passion in science, we are looking for people who are committed to a research or research-related career in Singapore.  A*STAR is making a significant investment in each scholar and the aim is for every scholar to be part of Singapore's Research, Innovation and Enterprise ecosystem. 

For overseas scholarships students will have to serve a bond from 2-6 years.
