Rising concerns about climate change and environmental regulations have made it increasingly important for the manufacturing industry to improve energy efficiency in its operations. With the Energy Efficiency Monitoring and Analytics System (E2MAS) developed by A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), companies can tap on its monitoring and analytics capabilities to assess the energy efficiency of their equipment in real-time and easily identify hotspots of excessive energy usage. These hotspots can then be analysed to determine actionable steps that can help companies achieve quantifiable improvement in energy efficiency.
Sanwa-Intec Asia Pte Ltd, a local SME that manufactures plastic products, has deployed E2MAS for its plastic injection moulding machines. The deployment was conducted through Sanwa-Intec’s system integrator partner, Iplast 4.0, which acquired necessary data from the company’s system for analytics. Over a period of one year, Sanwa-Intec has successfully increased its visibility on energy efficiency by 80 per cent, improved its energy efficiency by 20 per cent, and reduced its carbon footprint by 20 per cent.
