Operation & Technology Roadmapping (OTR)
  • Professional facilitators who are trained in the road mapping methodology adapted from Cambridge University will conduct 5 x half day brain-storming sessions with senior management to assist companies in developing a technology roadmap aligned to their business strategy/goals.
  • An overview of the OTR Programme is as follows:
  • Overview of the OTR Programme
  • At the end of the 5 x half day sessions, companies will have a customized and well defined roadmap with valuable inputs from key company representatives and A*STAR technology specialists.
  • After the roadmap has been developed, companies can then choose to embark on either one of the following:
    • Market Analysis Report
    • IP Landscape Report
    • Technology/Technical Feasibility Study
  • Potential benefits include:
    • Building a big picture perspective
    • Connecting with technology specialists
    • Leading the team through a unified strategy
  • A*STAR provides the OTR package for a charge rate of S$25,000. Eligible SMEs are entitled to receive up to 70% funding to offset the cost. Click here to find out more information on the OTR programme.

Consortium OTR
Consortium OTR

Building on the success of the OTR initiative, A*STAR has launched the “consortium-style” OTRs to develop technology roadmaps for groups of local companies within the same sub-sector. This allows A*STAR to work with industry partners including Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs) to reach out to more local enterprises, in line with the vision to foster pervasive innovation in the economy.

These consortium-level roadmaps will:

  • Help individual companies in the consortium make better-informed decisions in their firm-level innovation strategies. This would include decisions related to R&D investments, intellectual property strategy and potential R&D partners;
  • Provide a roadmap where the consortium can work together to develop deeper capabilities in innovation. This would include capabilities that would help SMEs in the consortium move up the value chain;
  • Serve as a platform for Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to gear their research towards industry needs;

After helping the consortiums identify technologies or innovation solutions to meet their needs, A*STAR will link the solution providers to the companies for potential adoption. If there are no readily available technologies, A*STAR can work with the participating enterprises to co-develop these the new technologies, together with relevant Research Institutes and Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).
