A*STAR Skin Research Labs (A*STAR SRL) is Singapore’s research institute for skin research under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). We are committed to advancing high-value, interdisciplinary science that translates into measurable outcomes for public health, clinical innovation, and economic development.

Our mandate is focused and strategic: to develop breakthrough knowledge and technologies across three core research domains:

• Skin Diseases
• Skin Health and Ageing
• Skin Tech and Biophotonics

A*STAR SRL brings together a critical mass of leading scientists and research platforms that span cell and molecular biology, immunology, microbiome study, and bioengineering. Our research drives the development of novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and medical technologies with pathway to clinical application and commercial adoption.

We operate as an integral part of Singapore’s biomedical innovation ecosystem, with strong institutional partnerships that span academia, healthcare, and industry. As a founding member of the Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS) — a tripartite collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG). We catalyse multi-disciplinary efforts to solve clinically relevant challenges in dermatology and skin health.
