Asian Skin Microbiome Programme 2.0 (ASMP 2.0)
A*STAR SRL | A*STAR SIFBI | A*STAR GIS | NHG Health | NTU SCELSE

ASMP 2.0 aims to advance a holistic understanding of the skin microbiome by identifying host characteristics that shape microbial community structure in both health and disease. By elucidating the molecular mechanisms that maintain, regulate and protect healthy skin, it seeks to define key host–microbiome interactions that underpin skin resilience and dysfunction. These insights will identify actionable targets and intervention strategies to modulate the skin microbiome, enabling preventive approaches, and therapeutic innovations that positively alter the trajectory of skin health.

Cutaneous Ageing and maintenance Programme (CAP)
A*STAR SRL | A*STAR BII | A*STAR GIS | A*STAR SIgN | NHG Health | NTU LKCMedicine

CAP addresses the major knowledge gap in understanding how Asian skin ages. It aims to characterise the clinical, anatomical and physiological ageing phenotype of Asian skin to better understand ageing trajectories. By identifying the drivers of age-related skin frailty and disease, the programme seeks to uncover functional targets amenable to intervention. Bespoke laboratory models of aged and diseased skin are developed to evaluate potential interventions, with the long-term aim of maintaining and supporting skin health across the life course.

Atopic Dermatitis Research Program for PatienTs (ADEPT)
NHG Health | A*STAR SRL | A*STAR BII | A*STAR SIgN | NUS | NUHS | NTU

ADEPT addresses the need to better understand the epidemiology, risk factors, disease progression, and pathogenesis of Atopic Dermatitis (AD) in the Asian context. Understanding the various mechanistic and endotypic factors in a longitudinal cohort spanning children to adulthood, would allow better understanding of AD pathogenesis as well as stratification of the disease subtypes, outcomes and trajectories, enabling new preventive strategies and better therapeutics management.

Advanced OPTIcal Metrology for Asian Skin health & diseases programme (OPTIMAS)
A*STAR SRL | A*STAR IHPC | NHG Health | NTU | KKH

OPTIMAS addresses the need for advanced imaging platforms tailored to Asian skin, which has distinct pigmentation and structural characteristics. It focuses on developing advanced optical and hybrid imaging approaches that overcome the limitations posed by higher melanin content. By enabling improved resolution and deeper structural, functional, and biochemical characterisation of Asian skin, the programme aims to support more accurate analysis, diagnosis, and translational applications.
