NMC Launches Two New SkillsFuture Funded Measurement Skills Training Courses (MSTC)
The National Metrology Centre (NMC) has developed two new SkillsFuture funded courses: Basic Metrology and Measurement Quality Assurance and Flow Metrology and Uncertainty Analysis. This milestone is part of NMC’s broader knowledge transfer and capability-building efforts to extend the reach and impact of its Measurement Skills Training Courses (MSTC). By aligning specialised metrology training with nationally recognised certification, NMC aims to strengthen workforce capability development and enhance the quality and consistency of calibration services provided by industry.
Building Strong Measurement Foundations
The Basic Metrology and Measurement Quality Assurance course is designed to provide engineering professionals with the essential skills needed to ensure reliable and accurate measurements in their work. Participants will establish a strong foundation in metrological principles, focusing on measurement uncertainty analysis, the development of calibration procedures, and the interpretation of calibration reports. Understanding measurement uncertainty and identifying its components in the measurement process are crucial for effectively expressing measurement results in design or manufacturing across various industries and calibration laboratories.
Enhancing Accuracy in Flow Measurement
The Flow Metrology and Uncertainty Analysis course addresses the critical role of accurate flow measurement in industrial operations. In sectors such as energy, chemicals, and process industries, even minor measurement deviations can translate into significant operational and financial impacts at scale. This course equips participants with the knowledge and analytical tools to improve calibration practices, quantify and reduce measurement uncertainty, and mitigate risks associated with inaccurate measurements, thereby supporting more reliable operations and informed decision‑making.
