The FoM Summit@Singapore is an event to showcase advanced manufacturing technologies, and trends and industry shifts that are shaping the future of manufacturing. It provides a unique setting for senior top executives from Multinational Companies, Large Local Enterprises, senior government officials and leading technology providers to exchange ideas and form partnership as they are adapting and capturing opportunities in the complex and fast evolving landscape. Held at Resorts World Sentosa on 5 Sep 2017, this year’s event was organised by A*STAR with support from the Economic Development Board and SPRING Singapore.

At the summit, NMC showcased its “Self-diagnostic, Self-healing Sensor Health Assurance System”. Leveraging on the Industry Internet-of-Things technology and using NMC’s proprietary metrological software system, it enables autonomous and automatic diagnosis of the accuracy (health) of remote sensors. Inaccurate (unhealthy) sensors can either be remotely recalibrated, if possible, or isolated from the whole sensor system so that they do not degrade the quality of the measurements. This system is needed for applications where the quality of the sensor measurement is highly critical for subsequent decision makings, the sensors are large in quantity and are widely distributed, the environment conditions that sensors are operating in are constantly changing, and when operation disruption is undesirable. It also improves the productivity and reduces reliance on metrologists. It is, for example, suitable for Advanced Manufacturing and Smart Nation applications. The exhibit had attracted interest from multinational companies from the Food & Beverage (F&B) and Robotic / Automation sectors during the event.
