Singapore Integrated Transport Energy Model (SITEM)

A*STAR and TUMCREATE collaborated on a research initiative aimed at supporting Singapore’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs) on a national scale. This project leverages the SITEM to provide a comprehensive analysis of future EV charging patterns and energy demands across the country.

The insights generated by SITEM play a crucial role in informing Singapore's policy decisions as part of the nation's 2040 vision, which seeks to have all vehicles running on cleaner energy sources. By projecting energy needs and optimising charging infrastructure, this model supports Singapore's commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable urban transport.

The objectives

Analyse EV Charging Patterns and Energy Demand

Use SITEM to project and understand the energy requirements for widespread EV adoption in Singapore

Support Policy Development for EV Transition

Provide data-driven insights to help achieve Singapore’s cleaner energy goals by 2040

Contribute to Decarbonisation Commitments

Aid in developing a sustainable transport ecosystem that aligns with Singapore’s long-term environmental goals

The impact

Through the use of SITEM, Singapore is better equipped to address the infrastructure and energy requirements of a large-scale EV transition. This project not only contributes to the nation's decarbonisation goals but also supports a cleaner, more sustainable transport future, aligning with Singapore’s vision for 2040.
