In a strategic collaboration with Hyphens Pharma, A*STAR supported the development of Ceradan® Advanced Hand Balm, a breakthrough product clinically designed to relieve hand eczema by restoring the skin barrier.

This next-generation hand balm is a product line extension from the Ceradan Advanced series featuring a patented active pH control technology, paired with ceramide-dominant formulation, delivering targeted and science-backed relief specially for hand eczema.

The objectives

Formulate an Optimised Ceramide-Dominant Product

With support from A*STAR, the team formulated a product with a ceramide-dominant ratio of 3:1:1 (ceramide:cholesterol:free fatty acids), proven to rebuild and strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

Enable Scalable Production and Validation

Beyond formulation, A*STAR scientists conducted skin physiology and biochemistry analyses, clinical evaluations, and supported the technology transfer of manufacturing protocols for commercial production.
