I²R Staff Profile

Dr. Dong Ming Hui is a Principal Scientist and Head of the Speech Generation Team at  A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (A*STAR I²R). He is also the President of the Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association and Vice-President of the Chinese and Oriental Languages Information Processing Society.

His expertise lies in speech and language processing, particularly in developing Text-to-Speech systems for multiple languages ( English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil etc.) and optimised them for various platforms such as Cloud, PC, and Smartphone. He also contributed his knowledge to projects related to speech recognition, speaker and language recognition, computer-aided language learning, natural language processing, transliteration, sentiment analysis, parsing, language models, semantics, and dialogue systems.

With a strong academic background, including a PhD from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Dong has published over 100 research papers. He has held various leadership positions in conferences and organisations related to language processing.
